We're interested in Tim Harrington's work because he pushes the boundaries between creator, participant, and audience regardless of context, technology or media.
"Free 2012", a project where the artist gave away work online, is emblematic of his playfully transgressive artistic philosophy. His fluid movement among multiple modes of expression as a musician/designer/artist/performer always generates interesting and often provocative work.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tim Harrington is a prolific visual artist, an emblematic character in the indie rock universe, a prominent citizen of Brooklyn, New York, and local dad-about-town. Tim has fronted the band Les Savy Fav since 1995, and is the man behind the Pitchfork.tv series “BEARDO”. He and his wife Anna created Deadly Squire, a line of textiles and patterned products. Tim is also a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Masters Program. He has worked professionally as a designer, illustrator, and fine artist since 1996.
Tim's upcoming installation for JSx55 addresses animation and motion through the use of an original technique Tim is developing for delivering graphic motion without traditional frames. His Unpleasantries Cards are also featured as part of our Loveislame show.
