Chad Silver

|
We're interested in Chad Silver's work because of his cynical interpretations of the 21st century. As a creator, he has pushed the limits of what is considered acceptable and brings us humor and thoughtful critiques of life events. His "Loveislame" concept brings one of the biggest commercial holidays: Valentine's Day and mashes it up with witty unexpected comments.
ABOUT THE ARTISTChad Silver is a Brooklyn-based artist. He was born in a small Northern Canadian Town and after obtaining a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, he migrated to Philadelphia where he continued his exploration of text-based art at the Tyler School of Art. Famously known for his designer tees and their jaded messages, as well as his atypical plush bears, Silver combines sardonic wit and pared-down pop sensibility with his conceptually based observational critique.
His work has been shown in various US and Canadian locations, such as the University Art Gallery in Halifax, and he has been widely reviewed and interviewed by publications such as NY Magazine, Glamour, Details, Imprint, The Los Angeles Times.
He was also featured on the blog of the television show Tosh.0, and his video projects and public interventions have been covered by The New York Times, James Wagner, The Brooklyn Rail and C Magazine.
