Featured in New York Magazine

Posted on December 11, 2012 by JnrlStr | 0 comments

At JNRLSTR we have curated a collection of objects that are useful, durable, and beautifully designed. Selectively chosen for their conceptual and aesthetic value, each object at JNRLSTR is curated to fit within the transitioning color wave. Along with color specific items we also carry objects in neutral colors that fit the same high standards as our other products. We believe in collecting beautiful, practical objects and sharing them; recently our Rope Bowl (designed by Harry Allen for Areaware) was featured in New York Magazine as a part of their holiday gift selection with our neighbor Cocoa Bar at 21 Clinton Street. We are excited to be a part of the design community of the Lower East Side and we hope that by sharing our taste in international design and art we can further conversations and projects between our local community and the world

"Boxing Day" Scanwiches on the Nowness

Posted on December 26, 2011 by JnrlStr | 0 comments

"Nowness" is the digital leader in luxury storytelling. Each day, NOWNESS showcases an exclusive premiere of the most inspiring stories influencing contemporary culture and global lifestyle, previewing the latest in fashion, gastronomy, art, film, music, design, travel and sport. Today, December 26th 2011 they feature Jon Chonko's leftover scanwiches.

Tagged under Gastronomy, this what they had to say...

Comprising a slathering of cranberry sauce, a dash of gravy, Christmas ham, mashed potato and a spoonful of green bean casserole atop a classic dinner roll, Scanwiches blogger Jon Chonko creates the ultimate post-Christmas sandwich. There is no better advocate on the art of the sandwich than the founder of the cult blog, who uses a standard flat-bed scanner from the comfort of his desk at Google to share his daily bread with a dedicated fan base of carbohydrate-loving followers. No meager lunchtime snack, Chonko's "scanwiches" go to gastronomic extremes to offer beautiful and mouth-watering takes on the lunch box classic. “This one has all the fixtures of my own Christmas dinner,” says Chonko of his festive concoction. “It’s things that my parents or grandparents would make, but ready to go in a sandwich. It tastes just like Christmas.” Graphic designer Chonko has immortalized his Katz deli bun and filler in a new book Scanwiches dedicated to his blog—including such inspired variations as a soft noodle sandwich, and the “Dagwood sandwich” made famous by the Blondie comics. “The Dagwood was the craziest one,” says Chonko. “It’s the kind with 30 or 40 ingredients in. A particular challenge when they weigh 8lbs.”

Be sure to stop over there and "LOVE" it.
