Scanwiches by Jon Chonko, is the detailed discovery of ingredients, culture and memories through the scanning of bifurcated sandwiches using a standard flatbed scanner.
Jon has been working on this project since 2008, when he first started scanning his lunch and uploading his creations onto a Tumblr site he called Scanwiches. In November of 2011, Jon released a book with powerHouse Books under the same name.
For JS55/JnrlStr Jon has created signed, limited edition giclée prints of 11 of his favorite scanwiches at various sizes for "education and delight", as well as a larger-than-life video projection of sandwich scanning greatness.
Help you find simple products that work great from around the world. Balancing the demands of the lower east side and our friends surfing the internet, we are a source for hard to find well designed tools, supplies and art. Let us know what you think.
We moved into 55 Clinton Street in January of 2011. The space was named JSx55, for Jaeger and Sloan with the address. As we spent more time in the space, we began to develop our shop idea. We decided to created a General Store for modern humans. So we borrowed the J and S, and removed all the vowels, to spell JnrlStr. Check out our creative studio. JaegerSloan
